“5 Preseason Strengthening Exercises to Improve Your Cross Country Performance”
Brian Hawthorne grew up in Marlton, NJ, attending Cherokee High School before receiving his undergraduate degree at West Chester University. He then received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. His decision to become a physical therapist stemmed from his desire to empower others to improve their quality of life.
Brian enjoys working with a wide variety of patients, including sports injury, post-surgical, low back pain, and geriatric patients. He has a special interest in treating runners of all ages and skill levels. While attending Drexel University he focused on running biomechanics and studied under Dr. Robert Maschi and Dr. Kevin Gard, who lead the Drexel University Running Performance and Research Center.
Brian has a special interest in treating TMJ disorders including myofascial pain, articular disorders, and headaches. Using a multifaceted approach, Brian treats the whole patient, addressing issues related stress, anxiety, and dysfunctional habits.
Brian is an enthusiastic runner who enjoys charity races and runs distances from 5k to full marathons. His favorite race is the annual 10-mile Broad Street Run in Philadelphia. Brian’s other hobbies include skiing, tennis, and strength training, but most of all, spending quality time with his wife and two children.
