Lauren graduated summa cum laude from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Health Science. While at U Sciences, Lauren was a member of the Women’s Basketball team, earning multiple all-conference honors for academic achievements.

Lauren developed an interest in physical therapy after suffering a knee injury during high school basketball, requiring an ACL reconstructive surgery. It was during her time in rehabilitation that Lauren realized a career in physical therapy would combine her love for learning and passion for helping people, all while making a positive difference in someone’s life.

Lauren enjoys treating a variety of patients across all age ranges and injuries. However, she has taken a particular interest in treating post-operative injuries of young females. Due to her own adolescent injury, she understands not only the physical, but also the emotional and psychological challenges that can accompany an injury to a person in this age group. This unique perspective allows her to connect with patients and treat their injuries on a more global level.

Although born in California, Lauren was raised in Texas and finally planted her roots in Northern New Jersey in the mid-1990s. Now a Jersey girl, she enjoys the varying landscapes of this great state, from beach to farm to mountain. Lauren loves being outdoors, especially when she can bring her dog along. Lauren and her husband consider themselves enthusiastic travelers, always up for a challenge. They enjoy adventure vacations, exploring locations not only within the United States, but also abroad, including trips to Europe, Central America, the Middle East, and South Africa. Together, they find that understanding unfamiliar cultures and cuisines helps them appreciate the diversity that comes with this profession.

Beth graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and later earned a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine. While at the University of Pittsburgh she worked with the Gymnastics, Wrestling, and Football teams, and eventually served as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer and primary healthcare provider for the men’s and women’s Swimming and Diving teams.

Beth also worked as the athletic trainer of a highly competitive AAAA high school in Pennsylvania. She covered over 16 sports and 600 student athletes while also helping to establish a return-to-play concussion protocol for high school athletes.

After tearing her ACL as a competitive gymnast, Beth realized that she enjoyed learning about anatomy and exercise prescription, and her interest in Sports Medicine was born.  After two surgeries and multiple injuries to the same knee, she developed an appreciation for the benefits of functional, individualized, and evidence-based physical therapy.

Prior to joining EXCEL, Beth worked for a durable medical equipment company in the Pittsburgh region. She served as the account manager and clinical specialist for a high-profile physician practice. Upon moving to New Jersey, she continued to work remotely providing telehealth patient care to post-operative shoulder patients using a patented passive range of motion device.

Beth now resides in Jersey City with her husband, son, and dog. She loves exploring her new hometown’s restaurant scene and enjoys any activity that gets her adrenaline pumping. Her clinical background as a Certified Athletic Trainer makes her a valuable addition to EXCEL’s Physician Relations team.
