Have Knee Pain?

We can help.

Whether it’s from accident, sports injury, or the general wear-and-tear of life, knee pain and knee injuries are a common complaint. While we treat a variety of knee issues at our facilities, these are the four most common:

ACL Injury

Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) typically occur due to a
non-contact rotational movement or hyperextension of the knee. Typically occurring in female athletes, an ACL injury can happen even in the most benign, non-sport related activities. Rehabilitation following an ACL injury can last weeks to months, depending on the severity (surgical versus non-surgical), but patients commonly have excellent results and can resume all normal functional and recreational activities.

Patellofemoral Pain

With this ailment, patient typically have pain at the front of the knee, which is often caused by the kneecap rubbing on the thigh bone. It may result from misalignment of the knee, and is another frequent overuse injury that is especially common in young female athletes.

Chondromalacia Patella

This is an overuse injury, more commonly known as “runner’s knee.”
It can occur from the softening and deterioration of the cartilage on the under surface of the kneecap. This condition can also present in older adults with arthritis.

Meniscus Tear

The menisci are small rubbery discs, located between the upper and lower leg bones, that serve as cushion for your knee. Sudden twisting or turning of the leg with a planted foot can result in the painful tearing of your meniscus. This is a common on-the-job injury, as well as a risk for casual and serious athletes.
