Ray grew up in the village of Florida, NY, and attended high school at S.S. Seward Institute where he played soccer, basketball and baseball and is a member of the Seward Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended Barry University in Miami, FL, earning a bachelor degree in Exercise Science while playing baseball for the Buccaneers. He returned home to the northeast to continue his studies, where he received his Master Degree in Physical Therapy from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Ray was introduced to physical therapy through his uncle, who owned his own practice and treated him as a young athlete for several minor sports injuries. It was always in the back of his mind that PT was an area that he could see himself working if his baseball dreams didn’t come true. Then, while in college, he dislocated his throwing shoulder which resulted in attending PT for twelve weeks. In the time he was there, Ray met several other patients and rehabilitated alongside them. The experience of meeting people, sharing stories, and working together to progress and rehabilitate made him realize that PT would be his choice of career. He enjoys working with all patients, but particularly with young athletes working through recovery so he can create an experience as positive as his own.
Outside of work, Ray continues to play sports for the enjoyment of competing and for exercise. He continued playing baseball for ten years after college, but decided it was time to retire when his first son was born. The commitment to baseball was just too time-consuming now with a family. He has played in an ice hockey league for the past fifteen years and continues to play today. His wife is a runner and they enjoy running and participating in races together. They have done numerous 5Ks and 10Ks, as well as five half-marathons together. One of his favorite hobbies is snowmobiling and snowboarding. He is probably one of the few who love winter and hope for snow. A “bad” winter to him is a mild one.

Congrats to Waldwick patient Kim who graduated from PT last week! 👩🎓Kim first came to #excelptnjwaldwick after suffering an injury at a Zombie Run (we don’t think it was the 🧟♂️!) After working hard with Waldwick PT Ray, Kim finally crossed the finish line today and we couldn’t be more proud.
