Bryan Del Rio was raised in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He attended Springfield College, where he earned a master’s degree in Physical Therapy in just five years as part of an accelerated program. His interest and participation in sports of all types, along with his love and predilection for science and medicine, led him to pursue his chosen career path. Growing up, Bryan played a lot of soccer and baseball, as well as being a member of the football and swim teams in high school. In college, he discovered rugby, and balanced his studies with being a part of Springfield College’s team. Since then, Bryan has played in adult baseball and softball leagues, plenty of pick-up basketball, taken a variety of high-intensity interval training classes, and regularly attends spin classes. With a wife that is a Pilates instructor, he has also developed a first-hand appreciation of how challenging those classes can be.

In 2008 he was introduced to the sport of triathlon and has never looked back. Bryan has completed two Ironman events in Sonoma, CA and Lake Placid, NY and he is registered for his next Ironman in Mont Tremblant, Canada in 2018.  Bryan fills in his race calendar with other shorter endurance events and can be seen around Bergen County, Harriman State Park, or Lifetime Fitness swimming, cycling, and running throughout the training season.

When not training, he and his wife enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking and learning about wine. They keep busy finding new, and revisiting familiar, favorite culinary experiences locally and in New York City. An annual trip earmarked to visit family on Bonaire gives them an opportunity to take a break from their busy lifestyles and recharge their batteries each year.

Bryan has particular interests in treating injuries and post-operative care of shoulder and knee conditions. His familiarity and personal experiences with many sports and activities allows him to design more than just rudimentary generic routines, and instead considers the specific requirements for each individual patient’s goals and lifestyle. His ability and willingness to carefully explain each step of the rehab process makes it easy for patients to understand and actively participate in their recovery. For these reasons and more, Bryan continues to earn requests from returning patients and personal referrals from past patients ever since he joined Excel in 2002.
