Here’s What Will Replace SAMS Clothing In Livingston: Report

An iconic men's and boys' clothing shop in Livingston is closing after 119 years. Here's what will take its place, a report says.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — An iconic men’s and boys’ clothing shop in Livingston is closing after 119 years, to be replaced by a physical therapy provider, a report says.

Earlier this month, SAMS Fine Men's Clothing announced that it will be shutting its doors after more than a century of doing business in Essex County. The local business began as a pushcart in Newark before finding its permanent home on the corner of South Livingston Avenue in 1967.

"This business has been a source of pleasure and pride to us and our families since our grandfather first opened it in 1899," co-owner Jeffrey Cohen said. "With almost 12 decades under our belts, it's time to hang up our sport coats and embark on the next chapter of our lives. It's been an honor and privilege to dress the community and play a role in so many special occasions."
