Christina Gioeli, PT, DPT
NJ PT# 40QA01687500
Christina graduated magna cum laude from the CUNY Macaulay Honors College at the College of Staten Island in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Honors. She continued on at the College of Staten Island to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016. While studying for both degrees, Christina worked as a physical therapist aide in an outpatient orthopedic setting closely with many physical therapists. Her education through CSI and in outpatient facilities offered vast experience working with many patient populations, with an emphasis on manual therapy and orthopedics.
Christina enjoyed playing soccer throughout high school and college, and although never sustaining any major injuries of her own, she was exposed to other teammates and friends going through physical rehabilitation. It was throughout high school that Christina became more interested in learning about the world of health science and rehabilitation. Christina volunteered in a hospital-based outpatient center and a private practice on Staten Island, which solidified her decision to pursue her goal of becoming a physical therapist.
Christina completed graduate clinical fieldwork in various settings, including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient rehabilitation (with a focus on traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury), and acute care rehabilitation. Although each setting has implications for every patient she sees, Christina is currently working towards specializing and receiving post-graduate certifications in manual therapy interventions and vestibular rehabilitation for post-concussion through various institutions. She takes a particular interest in sacroiliac joint dysfunction and low back pain, and the implications of treatment and rehabilitation in promoting function and stability in these patients. She also enjoys treating athletes with any injury or surgery, as this resonates with her from her personal life and she enjoys relating to athletes through both physical and motivational recovery.
Outside the clinic, Christina is an avid traveler with her boyfriend, family, and friends throughout the country and abroad. Her dreams are to return to Europe and experience new cuisines, wines, and cultures all over the world. She enjoys spending time down at the beach, cooking, exercising, and shopping.
